Our Sponsors There is no way we could do what we do, without the support of our generous sponsors! To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key. What does sponsoring Feeling Fab look like? Overall, it’s a partnership that benefits both the charity and the sponsor, helping to raise funds and awareness for a good cause while enhancing the sponsor's community presence. We hold our Wellness Programme days throughout each year. We are currently expanding our programme to other areas around New Zealand. We have held Wellness Days in Auckland (Dairy Flat, Stillwater, Orewa, Warkworth), Mangawhai, Dargaville and Wellington. Our programme is supported by volunteers who donate time, goods and skills to make each day special and memorable and by sponsors who donate financially or in goods or services. Please feel free to visit us on social media; Facebook and Instagram - @feelingfabfoundation for more insight into our work. Our goal is to have as many participants or components sponsored by businesses, as well as sourcing funding via grants, however, we are not always successful as there is much demand for these grants. All donations are tax deductible
- Elizabeth's Story | FeelingFabFoundation
Elizabeth's Story The sudden death of my husband, Allan, in a car accident, catapulted me into a world raising three young sons alone whilst dealing with a grief that brought me to my knees. I found there was nowhere to share and express my grief. Because of this, I always had a dream of providing a safe environment for those going through the traumatic journey of grief. I got involved with a charity called ‘Women and Grief Home Care’. Nine years later, I needed to change direction. My friend Judith and I decided it was time to bring some joy into grief. She asked me what I missed most (not including my husband) when going through my journey of grief. I missed ‘feeling fab’ as I have always loved having makeup, hair and manicures done. After one night of brainstorming, we wrote a proposal to take to the Grief Centre in Birkenhead and Feeling Fab was created in 2014. This could not have happened without the support and heartfelt love of my volunteers who I call ‘angels’. Our angels have dedicated their time, support and a listening ear for the people who attend. Without the hundreds of ‘angels’ over the years, Feeling Fab would not be where it is today. I am so blessed and honoured to walk alongside our ‘angels’, they are part of the Feeling Fab family, past and present. I would like to say that my life is great now. My boys are married to wonderful ladies. I am ‘Nanny’ to six grandies from my boys and eight step-grandies through Lionel. I have been blessed having such a wonderful man - Lionel - who has been there for me and my boys through the worst time of our lives. He has been our rock. Keep reaching for your dreams - I did - with the help of my boys, Lionel, my family and friends. We all deserve to ‘feel fab’, especially when going through grief, loss and difficult times.
- Wellness Days | Feeling Fab Foundation
Wellness Days Supporting through grief Your mental health matters to us Inspire Bringing Hope Our vision is informed by the principle of empowerment – Whakamana, through Mana Atua – commitment to the wellbeing of people in grief through the community gift of time and resources. At Feeling Fab Foundation, we empower individuals through our diverse range of wellness programmes. Heal Caring Hearts Our dedicated team works tirelessly to heal hearts and minds, offering support and compassion to every individual we encounter. Our biggest wish for the nominees who attend our Wellness Days is that they feel welcome, safe, and honoured for all they have gone through or continue to go through. Transform Changing Futures A common theme of our Wellness Days is the quiet, nervous start of the day, which soon transforms into a laughing, chatting, exchanging of phone numbers at the end of the day. There is no pressure; we are here to help nominees leave the blanket of grief and their worries at the door. They are taken care of by our caring and understanding team of volunteers, aka ‘Angels'. Delicious food is another element that brings people together, sparking conversations and creating lasting memories. Connect Building Stronger Communities Feeling Fab Foundation strives to connect people travelling similar grief, trauma or loss journeys, building stronger communities and fostering a sense of belonging for all. Join us in creating a network of support and unity. What are our days all about? Our biggest wish for the nominees who attend our Wellness Days is that they feel welcome, safe, and honoured for all they have gone through or continue to go through. Depending on the type of Wellness Day, activities may include for women; hair styling, makeup, nails, hand massage, reiki. For the menfolk, a special guest speaker, a delicious meal, and a chance to connect, 'man-style'. And for our youth, this is a work in progress, however, we are working on making our Youth Days an unforgettable and positive experience. Who do we work alongside? Whilst we work independently, run by a small, dedicated team of volunteers, we do work alongside some big names: Suzy H’s Anti-Bullying Foundation, Baby Loss New Zealand, Birthright Wellington, Child Cancer Foundation, Citizens Advice Bureau Orewa, Fostering Kids, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust NZ, Harbour Hospice Red Beach, Warkworth, HBC Grandparents Parenting Grandchildren, Hestia Women's Refuge, Rodney Warkworth, Jason Morrison Funeral Directors, Lifewise, Little Miracles Trust Wellington, Love Soup Hibiscus Coast, Miscarriage Association, Race4Life Charitable Trust, Raeburn House Takapuna, Salvation Army Wellington, Sands Rodney, Step In The Door Counselling, Steps Forward Family Services, Sweet Louise, The Burns Charitable Trust, The Empathy Group Rodney, The Grief Centre Birkenhead. How you can help us? We would love for you to join our team of volunteers. Feeling Fab is expanding into new areas, slowly but surely as funding allows, so as we grow, we will need more volunteers around NZ. Whether you want to volunteer at a Wellness Day, or on our committee, or if you have some admin or other specific skills, contact us for a chat. You can complete the volunteer form on the website, or email volunteers@feelingfab.org.nz if you have any questions. Can’t wait to hear from you! We would appreciate you to the moon and back if you were able to look at sponsorship or a donation, (regular or a one-off). Sponsorship options include; sponsoring a Wellness Day, sponsoring a nominee, sponsoring products for spot prizes or our goodie bags, or anything else that covers a financial expense that in turn helps us to help our communities through our programme. Please contact us at: hello@feelingfab.org.nz if you would like to chat.
- About Us | Feeling Fab Foundation
Our Angels I was a volunteer for Feeling Fab in Mangawhai until it closed. It was professionally run by Carol Collett with kindness and efficiency and all participants found the day supportive for their grief process. We volunteers found the day enriched our lives… Dwyllis I was honoured to be able to attend this Wellness Day in Wellington last month. What an incredible day of pampering for some amazing women from within our community. I am grateful to Jo, the organiser for this day for allowing me to be present to assist with food and refreshments (with my wife Fiona) and conversations with the participants. To be able to be present, share their stories, just hold space and offer a hug (if required) was indeed an honour, all while they were getting hairstyles, makeup and nails done… not to mention massages (Reiki) by an incredible team of volunteers. Liz, what an incredible thing your foundation offers to the woman of our country, this kind gentle space that allows our woman to be seen, heard and pampered all within a safe caring environment, and I really appreciate the opportunity you and Jo have extended to me to be apart of such a special space. Thank you & regards to all the amazing volunteers that have given up their family time to give to others. This truly is required all over New Zealand, an I am grateful for being included in the Wellington regions day.... Graeme As the Accounts Administrator for the Feeling Fab Foundation, it is an absolute honour to volunteer alongside some amazing people who are passionate about supporting those on their journey with grief. It is so heart-warming seeing our nominees come together for support and pampering and leaving our wellness days with big smiles, having an unforgettable experience, and having made life-long friends.. Lisa Elizabeth Founder & National Co-ordinator, Committee Member TBA Lynda Catering Co-ordinator, Committee Member Hi there, my association with Feeling Fab began approximately seven years ago. I was nominated to attend a Pamper Day as I had lost a 50+ year friendship of a close friend and family member. The grief and feeling lonely was distressing. Being extremely nervous about attending on the day, not knowing a single person I arrived at the door and turned around to walk back to my car. As Liz was expecting me she saw this, she called to me and came running with arms wide open to give me the best hug I had had in a long time. On the day, I met some amazing women with difficult situations living with pain from terminal illness, loss of their life partner, bereavement, traumas and grief. The many changes in people’s lives can cause many different types of grief and I realised that actually my grief was important to me, but compared with others I was blessed in many other ways. After the day I was so grateful for such a positive loving experience I offered to become a volunteer, which is often how our amazing volunteers come on board with Feeling Fab. I offered to provide some catering for the Volunteer’s Christmas get-together soon after and pretty much became a committee member and the Catering Co-ordinator and I continue in this role today. Ladies like me come to a Wellness Day mostly feeling a little out of their comfort zone, however, they soon relax under the care of our volunteers who shower them with fresh makeup, a hand massage, a hairdo, some lovely food kindness and they love to feel safe. By the end of the day, these ladies are absolutely glowing. As a volunteer to see this happening under our care is the most rewarding experience knowing we have made a difference to someone’s life. That Pamper Day changed my life so very much. It gave me hope, joy and new long-lasting friendships. I am very proud to be a part of this incredible group of women who make such a difference in our community. Lisa Accounts Administrator, Committee Member Hi my name is Lisa. I first came across the Feeling Fab organisation through the amazing Suzy H, ambassador for Feeling Fab, whom I am related to by marriage. I didn't hesitate to put my hand up to volunteer for the position of Accounts Administrator. Being an accountant by trade, having been involved in a non-profit organisation before, and having experienced grief, I knew Feeling Fab would be an organisation I would be passionate about. I was part of a small team who formed the Bronchiectasis Foundation. I had experienced grief when my daughter was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis, and again when the founder of the Bronchiectasis Foundation, Esther-Jordan Muriwai, passed away. I volunteered as the Bronchiectasis Support Co-ordinator for Northland for many years, which involved running a pamper day for the parents of children with Bronchiectasis and supporting and empowering these parents with knowledge of support services and information about Bronchiectasis. These experiences ignited my passion for volunteering to support people experiencing grief. I have been part of the Feeling Fab family for about a year, and I am honoured to be volunteering alongside some amazing ladies who are very passionate about the work that Feeling Fab does too. Alongside my volunteer work I am a full-time Accountant, wife, mum to three, step-mum to three, and we have a rescue dog and a rescue cat. Hayley Volunteers Co-ordinator, Funding Co-ordinator, Committee Member I joined the Feeling Fab family in late 2024 after seeing a volunteering opportunity posted online. I thought it would be a great way to make a positive impact in the community. I have a background in psychology and support work and am passionate about helping people. Urs Website Co-ordinator, IT Guru I volunteer as IT help for various NZ non-profits and started volunteering for Feeling Fab in 2023. I worked as an electrical engineer in the USA for 40 years. My wife and I have been Kiwis for over 12 years now (I’m originally from Switzerland). We have three daughters, though only one lives in NZ, so we travel a lot. I am an avid tennis player and swimmer, and enjoy the wonderful outdoor lifestyle NZ provides. Suzy Ambassador I’m Suzy Heazlewood. I’ve been an Ambassador for Feeling Fab for seven years now. I also have an antibullying online forum called Suzy H Child Advocate Antibullying Foundation. The Feeling Fab ethos really resonated with me. Especially supporting those who may feel alone in their grief. I’ve known amazing Lizzy for 32 years, so I knew her story and was delighted to be on board. What I love about the Feeling Fab concept is the fact that it is creating a safe and warm environment for women and men to come along and share their stories (if they choose to) or just sit, relax and enjoy the amazing services provided to help them feel brighter on their journey through grief. Everyone has a story and everyone’s story is unique to them. I also support by donating all proceeds of Suzy H 100% Pure Rosehip oil to Feeling Fab, by donating Suzy H products for use on the day, interviewing angels (volunteers) and guests about their experiences, if they are keen to, and spreading the word through the other events I am involved in. It’s a wonderful win-win situation, we all come away literally ‘Feeling Fab’ and uplifted. I’m very proud to be a part of this wonderful initiative. Love Suzy ❤️ Tracey-Maree Ambassador Kia Ora, I am a proud and honoured Ambassador for Feeling Fab Foundation. Feeling Fab are like no other organisation or charity I have ever come across. Their abundance of ‘Aroha’ for everyone shines through each of the volunteers, whom I call ‘Angels’. The Wellness Days hosted by Feeling Fab bring so much hope and comfort to so many souls, not to mention the ‘joy of being pampered’! My own journey leading up to becoming involved with Feeling Fab is I am a ‘burn survivor’, from a near fatal accident I had as a mere six month old baby. I have ‘MS’ and was recently diagnosed with ‘Stage 3 Meniere’s Disease’. I’m Māmā to a special needs lad and two beautiful wāhine Māmā’s and I have seven mokos and I am wife and partner to an incredible tāne. I proudly took in the role of Chairman for a charitable trust in 2023 and Convenor of a nationwide Country Music Award and are so proud that our Committee have chosen Feeling Fab as one of two charities the Tauranga Whetū Star Awards will make a Koha/Donation to in 2024. I quite simply believe in the ‘mana and mantra’ of the Feeling Fab Foundation ‘200%’, and I will do all I can to support this unique and giving Foundation.
